About JKCC

Hello all!! I am looking forward to meeting many new faces and empowering families every single step of the way! As my interest in newborns and lactation practices has grown over the past few years, this has become my true calling. Everyone has a purpose, thus being mine for allowing each family member and mother to have a dedicated safe space to ask questions and share any concerns regarding formula, lactation, breastfeeding, feeding systems, breast discomfort management, pumping, pumping schedules, and so much more!

I have worked in healthcare for six years, learning that each individual plays a key role in creating care plans for families. In 2023, I graduated from Carroll College with a Bachelor of Science: Pre-Med Health Sciences. From there, I have involved myself in every unit of care from the operating room to the NICU and labor and delivery. Last December of 2024, I received my licence for a professional lactation consultant, and I continue to grow my education each day as medicine changes every second of every day.

The saying ‘a community raises a child’ is exactly that. Knowing that you are not alone brings confidence that new mothers and fathers need as they begin on this new, exciting chapter of their lives! It would be an honor to let me assist your family with any adaptive measures so that personalized care can be performed to your desires.

Born and raised in northwestern Montana, I was taught at a young age to work hard and work well. I pride myself on the care I give to each individual every single day, and know I will never leave a problem unsolved. Let’s do this together!! I absolutely can not wait to meet you!

Love,

Josey

Breastfeeding Benefits

Breastfeeding not only is great for baby, but for mom as well!

  • Breastfeeding reduces the chances of asthma, diabetes, allergies, childhood illnesses, obesity, gut maturation, brain and nervous system development.

  • Breastfeeding helps mom prevent diabetes, ovarian, thyroid, and breast cancers! The benefits of breastfeeding are absolutely amazing for each breastfeeding family and dyad!

  • Caring for a newborn in general is a lot of work, yet know you are not alone and you can do this! Confidence holds power over individuals that makes them shine in hard times!

  • Taking account of deep breathing exercises during and prior to each pump/breastfeeding session helps hormone regulation and relaxation to have a more comfortable session without dread:)

  • Absolutely!

Any questions or concerns regarding formula feeding/pumping and bottling are all included in a consult. Whatever fits your family's lifestyle the best, we can create an accommodating plan of care. My most important goals are to make sure you as parents are heard and seen, comfortable, and making memories to last a lifetime.

  • Yes! If you want to start weaning breastfeeding sessions and incorporating more solid foods after the 6 month period, I have tips and tricks for that!

  • Here at JKCC, assessing each breastfeeding dyad is crucial in keeping mother and baby fed and safe. Protocols that enable mom to safely and comfortably express breastmilk without the stimulation of consistently making more can be done! If you are experiencing any pain or discomfort due to the retainment of milk, please contact me as soon as possible!

There are tactics in avoiding weaning side effects such as plugged ducts, mastitis (laterally or bi-laterally) in breastfeeding individual, and poor weight gain in baby that must be addressed in a timely manner.

Any questions or concerns are important! Please feel free to reach out if you need any help at all!

  • Breastfeeding should be relaxing and comfortable for mother and baby. If you are experiencing any pain with latch or ineffective milk transfer due to a painful latch, know that there are a great number of possibilities to make this experience more enjoyable.

No matter the time, reach out with your contact information and I will be in touch with you as soon as possible!
